Director and Principal Investigator

Dr. Petreca serves as the Director and Principal Investigator of the Center for Police Training in Crisis Intervention (The Center).

 

He is an Assistant Professor at the Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing. He also contributes his expertise as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of the Academy of Forensic Nursing.

Program Manager

Alison Perry is the Program Manager at the Center for Police Training in Crisis Intervention (The Center) at the Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing.

LMS Launch

The Center successfully launched the Department of Mental Health Jail Diversion Programs (DMH-JDP) Learning Management System (LMS) in accordance with Mass. General Laws c.19 § 25 (2018), providing streamlined access to recommended training materials and educational resources.

Trainings

The Center developed training content focused on mental illness recognition, substance misuse, mental health treatments, co-occurring disorders, crisis response, and community policing best practices.

At The Center, we're dedicated to enhancing law enforcement capabilities through innovative training programs. With a plethora of upcoming projects on the horizon, we're excited to share our vision for programs that prioritize both skill and community connection, empowering police officers with the skills they need to serve and protect effectively.

Our History

The Center serves as a statewide hub for evidence-based training, technical assistance, and research to improve law enforcement responses to individuals with behavioral health needs. It advances community policing and crisis intervention through training programs, acts as a clearinghouse for best practices, supports partnerships between law enforcement and human services, establishes data-driven measures for evaluation, and conducts research to inform policy and practice.
